Music
I began music lessons as a toddler, before beginning violin at five years old, and piano at nine. In a confusing turn of events, I, who started by singing with the London Philharmonic at London's Barbican and performing a violin solo in the Salzburg cathedral, have since moved on to shouting Jewel lyrics on men's laps in circus tents, winning a 2020 Fringe World Weekly Cabaret award for a show involving kazoos, tiny plastic hands, and a Kate Bush-to-the-death-match.
I'm a multi-instrumentalist, most trained on violin and piano, but also with varying levels of prowess in ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, piano accordion, autoharp, and anything else I can lay my hands on that still allows me to talk while playing (priorities). Raised with a love of music thanks to the Kodaly pedagogy, I now teach piano and musicianship to all ages, and am passionate about helping others to connect with music.
I have 15 years' experience teaching music, and enjoy working with students from toddlers to adults. I am particularly passionate about making music accessible to all - regardless of prior experience, ability, or special needs. I enjoy working with neurodivergent students and invite anyone to reach out if they have queries or reservations about taking piano, general music or basic voice lessons.
